Location: Situated on the Rio Grande edge of the West Mesa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States of America.

Driving Directions: Enter off Coors Road NW.  From the south and I-40, past Sevilla Avenue turn right into La Luz.  From the north, past Montano Road, turn left on Learning Road and right into La Luz.

Terrain: Desert steppes forming a gradual descent from the Coors Road ridge to the bosque flats and channeled ditch by the Rio Grande River.

Flora: Native plants.

Fauna: Roadrunners, Rabbits, Coyotes, Quail, Cooper's Hawks.

View: Natural mesa, Bosque, Rio Grande River and the expanse of the City of Albuquerque. Also seen is the complete length of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains.

Developer: Ray Graham of OvenWest. Construction started in 1968. Phase 1 of the master plan was completed in 1974.

ArchitectAntoine Predock. Predock was the winner in 2005 of the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and many international awards.

Homes: Consisting of 96 individual homes, private walled gardens, and interior patios are as unique as the individual resident. Set in clusters (mostly of 4 units), each home takes advantage of the expansive open space vistas.

Landscape: Fountains, plazas, meditation areas. Flower, herb and vegetable gardens unite the lawns and mesa land together.

Recreational Facilities: Swimming pool, tennis courts, bocce ball court. Playground facilities, walking paths and bosque trails.


people

Owners: Residents range from all ages, and professions. They come from all across the country, have a variety of interests, and educational backgrounds.

Governance: Community elects nine person Board and Committees of owner/residents form the La Luz Landowners Association. 

Community Events: Picnics, Cook-Outs, Street Brunches, Concerts, Plaza Parties, Sports Tournaments, Pot-Lucks and Home Tours.
